The book and its characters

The Crick Code is a novel. It is based on the real memories of Brenda Holm, whose childhood the story recalls. To protect people who are still living in the community she left, the names of characters have been changed, some events have been condensed, and small details have been adjusted for narrative flow. Any resemblance between characters in the novel and any specific living person, other than Brenda herself, is either a product of shared FLDS community experience or is coincidental. See our Author’s Note for a fuller explanation.
